The Artisan

I love, love, love the embroidery, sequins, and stones that are sewn on to South Asian clothes - they give such a lovely, unique look to our textiles. I love the rich, jewel tones, the many textures and the many facets of clothing from each part of South Asia. Each stitch is handmade, and that is what makes every piece of cloth that much more special.

Here are some snapshots of my new clothes from India :)

Hello :)

Hello :), originally uploaded by ~ladanseuse.

Trying out a self-portrait, post a Bharatanatyam dance performance.

Traditional.

I love traditional Indian elements - classic, gold bordered silk sari, elegant gold jewelry, and big bindis. There is something very charming about that look.

{Project 365} - Week 1

I've been wanting to do one of these forever, but always thought that I wouldn't have time to photograph something every single day. But, I finally made myself start it, and so far, it's been a great creative journey trying to find beauty in everyday life.

Here's what I captured during my first week!

I just love the bright, beautiful, emerald-coloured

Faith

I love pujas - the smell of incense, camphor, and sandalwood; bright vermillion powder; fresh flowers; hundreds of clay lamps; the soothing chant of the mantras from the Purohit Darpan; the plates full of sweets, puris, and khichdi.

Looking forward to the next one!
